Modeling the
Consolidated Mines "Copper King" Loading Station - Page 3 |
| Here are three more
pictures of the west side showing work to date - 1/14/09. Most
of the board & batten siding is finished and the scale house
addition is just about done. The window openings that are
missing on page two have been cut out and framed. Construction
began on New Years Day and about 60 hours have been spent building
the model to date. Work sessions range from about 30 minutes
to 4 or 5 hours. Based upon progress to date, I think it
will take about 3 months to finish. |

These three pictures serve
to further illustrate construction methods. The
strip-wood is scraped with a wire brush to add grain and stained
with Silverwood. The scale 1x12's are glued to
the styrene with ACC and the scale 1x3 battens and window
framing
are glued to the 1 x 12's with tacky cement. Windows are Grandt Line. About 40 actual feet of scale 1X12 and about
30 actual feet of scale 1X3 have been used on on the west wall
and scale house seen in these photos.

These
pictures show progress to date (02/10/09). All the
wall sub-assemblies are complete with the exception of
the two upper clerestory sections that will be
positioned above the main roof. Initial painting
and weathering has also been done. None of
these wall sections are glued together so if things
appear to out of square, they are!
All of the raw
plastic (white) will be painted roof brown and will not
been seen from regular viewing angles. Window frames
will either be light gray or roof brown. |
