JJ Johnston is another Pacific Northwest modeler. JJ's HO
scale Puget Sound Iron Goat Railway is a freelanced subsidiary
of the Great Northern. JJ has been modeling for
about 15 years and his outstanding layout is a fine example of
what can be achieved if you set your standards high and get a
little help from you friends. It should also be noted that
JJ's wife Patt has made significant contributions to the layout.
The Puget Sound Iron Goat Ry is built using L-girder benchwork,
plywood sub-grade, vinyl roadbed and Shinohara code 70 flex
track and trunouts. The room was specially prepared for the
11'X14' layout. The layout is equipped with Lenz DCC and
all the locomotives are equipped with sound. JJ's layout
will be open during the 2012 Narrow Gauge Convention here in
Seattle/Bellevue.
