Baldwin Westinghouse #660 & #661

Built by Baldwin in 1927, #661 along with the nearly identical #660 spent most of their time working the Sacramento Northern mainline between Oakland and Sacramento.  These 1,000 horsepower locomotives weighed about 137,000 pounds and were rated at 1,650 tons on level track.  Their weight and tractive effort made them well suited for the eastbound 4.6% grade out of Oakland.
